I was reading an article about PLN (personal learning networks) today that called my job a “silo job.” This implies that because I am the only librarian in my school in rural Vermont that I am isolated. Well, there are two other elementary school librarians in my district, but I rarely see them. OK, I guess I am isolated. But I don’t have to be. I am going to leave my comfort zone and blog.
This blog will focus on picture books and how to integrate them into curriculum across content areas and grade levels with a focus on Kindergarten through 8th grade. Additionally, I will post read alouds of the books I feature. I love read alouds.
I hope that other librarians and classroom teachers will locate this blog and find it useful.

I have decided to start with the 2026-2027 Red Clover Award books. This is a Vermont-based picture book award.
Each year a committee chooses ten excellent picture books published in the prior year. I’m going to start with Alberto Salas Plays Paka Paka con la Papa!
